Chili Cookoff Team Guidelines

We might catch you on TV so don't forget to tell all your friends. Are you tough enough to eat the hottest chili in the Tennessee Valley? Join us and see how long you can last. We've got it from Wimpy to Blazin Hot! Come vote for your favorite team! We might even let you BUY-A-VOTE!

  • Entry Fee $25.00 for a 5 member team. There will be a $5.00 fee for each additional team member.
  • All team members will be given an armband to attend the other events.

  • Open Division $25.00
  • Sanctioned Division   $25.00
  • You may enter both divisions for $35.00
  • Restaurant Division  $25.00
  • Salsa Division (individual) $25.00

The Literacy Council will provide team badges for easy identification and = make all booth assignments for each team.

You may use company/organization/church/ school logo’s colors, signs, banners/posters, and etc. or you may get creative with your own idea.

Booth setup:

You may begin setting up your booth on Friday, March 3 @ 6PM until 10PM and Saturday at 8AM.   Due to other events, all booths must be completed by 4:00 PM on Saturday. Please be considerate and quite during the pageant time of 12Noon to 2PM. Chili must be ready for judging by 5:00PM.  Showmanship judging w= ill start at 5:30PM.  The Cookoff will be open to the public at 5:00P. Please do not serve chili until 5PM.

  • Each team must prepare 4 gallons of chili for eating.  Make sure chili is kept hot for judging. Hottest chili entries will be marked and you will use a separate cup for judging division chili and hottest chili.
  • Outlets are provided for your convenience. If you will be using an outlet, please let us know in advance.You will need to bring extension cords and tables to fit booth space. If you will be using a pop-up tent or umbrella we will need to know in advance in order to plan for spacing.  Please be considerate of your neighbors during the cookoff.
  • Cookoff will be held at Lincoln County Fair Grounds Exhibit Building.
  • The Lincoln County Literacy Council reserves the right to refuse an entry. Entry Fees-nonrefundable.
